Supervised Contact Services
Building Bridges offers supervised contact between children and non-resident family members, as well as handovers, babysitting, and a range of other support services throughout Perth and the Southwest region.
We are also able to provide services in other regional areas across Western Australia upon request. Our services are available to both private clients and Government Child Protection Departments throughout Australia.
All services are delivered within the framework of Family and Children’s legislation. Our practice is guided by the best interests of the child, and the requirements of court orders, including the provision of detailed, objective reports based on our supervisors’ observations.
Consistent, high-quality contact with non-resident family members plays a vital role in maintaining positive relationships and supporting a child’s self-esteem. Strong self-esteem is linked to improved long-term outcomes. Children are better able to grow socially and emotionally when they feel safe and supported, and supervised contact helps to protect this development. It can also empower children to navigate family changes and associated challenges more effectively.
The long-term benefits for children using our services may include:
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with non-resident family members
- Reducing the need for ongoing court involvement, which can negatively impact children’s emotional wellbeing
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Reducing behavioural difficulties
- Supporting improved educational outcomes
- Assisting children to navigate complex family relationships
Building Bridges recognises that this is often a period of transition and heightened stress for families. We respond in a timely, flexible, and personalised manner to meet individual needs. We remain sensitive to the unique circumstances of each family, and our services can be adapted accordingly—whether visits are ongoing or one-off, regular or intermittent, and able to commence or conclude at short notice in line with changing court directions.
